Alicante postpones debate on Playa de San Juan housing investigation

The Alicante municipal commission investigating potential irregularities in housing allocations at Playa de San Juan has rescheduled the debate of its final conclusions to October 2. The postponement follows a joint proposal from PSPV-PSOE, Compromís, and EU-Podem, which received support from Vox.

Conflict has arisen regarding access to evidence. Political groups, including Vox, have requested access to email communications between former Urban Planning Councilor Rocío Gómez and former Finance Councilor Toni Gallego, as well as correspondence between their respective departments. Vice-mayor Manuel Villar (PP) has declined to provide these communications, citing privacy concerns.

In response, the left-wing parties (PSPV-PSOE, Compromís, and EU-Podem) have announced plans to request an extraordinary plenary session. They aim to ensure that the conclusions from all political groups are debated in an open session accessible to the public to promote transparency.
