Alicante PSOE demands explanations over parking expansion delays
The PSOE political party in Alicante has called on Mayor Luis Barcala to explain significant delays regarding the expansion of the city's regulated parking zones (blue and orange zones). The contract process, which aims to add 3,077 new regulated parking spaces across various neighborhoods, has been ongoing for over four years.
The party criticized the fact that the file was omitted from two consecutive sessions of the Contracting Board. The first postponement occurred on October 8, when the item was withdrawn because technical staff could not attend due to a conflicting meeting. The matter was also absent from the agenda for the October 15 session.
Socialist spokesperson Trini Amorós has demanded clarity on when the 19-year concession will be resolved and when the new parking regulations—including mandatory payments during midday and Saturday afternoons—will take effect. Amorós characterized the measures as having a primarily revenue-raising motive.
