Alicante South implements sustainable tourism model

The HOSBEC hotel alliance in southern Costa Blanca is redefining the regional tourism model by focusing on natural integration, gastronomic richness, and year-round international appeal. Hotels in key municipalities, including Torrevieja, Santa Pola, Guardamar del Segura, and Orihuela, are working to balance economic growth with heritage preservation.

To protect local ecosystems such as the Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park, the Santa Pola salt marshes, and the dunes of Guardamar, member hotels have implemented sustainability policies that exceed current regulations. These initiatives include transitioning to renewable energy, responsible water management, the elimination of single-use plastics, and creating visitor experiences that emphasize the fragility of the local dune ecosystems and biodiversity.
