Alicante’s Guadalest Village and Hidden Sea Cave Attract Tourists

Guadalest, a fortified inland village in the Marina Baixa of Alicante, is noted for its medieval streets, the 11th‑century Castillo de San José and a tunnel‑like portal carved through limestone that serves as the sole entrance to the historic centre. Despite a population of about 250, the town boasts more than eight museums, making it one of the most museum‑dense settlements in Europe.

Along the nearby Costa Blanca, the Cueva de los Peces (Cave of the Fish) near Cala Moraig can only be reached by swimming, kayak or paddle‑board, requiring a 200‑metre water crossing. The sea cave features clear, cold water and striking rock formations, but visitors must avoid strong winds and rough seas.
