Alice Bremer, Canadian community volunteer, dies at 86
Alice (née Reitsma) Bremer passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026 at the age of 86. Born in Kollumerzwaag, Friesland, the Netherlands, she emigrated to Victoria, British Columbia in early 1958 and married August Bremer later that year.
The Bremer family lived on farms in Brentwood Bay, Matsqui/Abbotsford, Armstrong and finally Enderby, where their grandchildren continue to run the dairy operation. Alice was known for her apple pie, extensive volunteer work with local churches, the Enderby Seniors Home, and community craft activities in Salmon Arm.
She is remembered by her children, grandchildren and the wider community for her skillful quilting, sewing, crocheting and photography, as well as her cheerful personality and dedication to family and service.
