Alice Coltrane's Ashram Tapes Reissued by Matador Records

Matador Records announced that it will release the complete set of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda’s four devotional albums—Turiya Sings, Divine Songs, Infinite Chants and Glorious Chants. The tapes, originally recorded in the 1980s‑1990s at Coltrane’s Los Angeles‑area ashram and distributed only to a small community, will now be issued with the full original mixes and restored artwork on CD, vinyl, cassette and digital formats. A release date has not yet been set.

In a press statement, Coltrane’s daughter Michelle said the music reflects her mother’s spiritual journey, describing it as “a pure reflection of the life journey” and an “inspired offering to the sanctity and feeling of this spiritual path.”
