Alice Cooper reflects on the evolution of shock rock

Rock musician Alice Cooper, born Vincent Damon Furnier, stated in London that he believes it is no longer possible to shock modern audiences. During the 1970s, his performances utilized props such as guillotines, gallows, and fake blood, which drew criticism from religious and conservative groups who labeled his music as satanic.

Cooper explained that his stage persona is an artistic figure, comparing the character to icons like Batman or the Joker. He noted that while his shows were designed to provoke, he views his persona as a rebel rather than an anti-religious figure. At 78 years old, he remarked that the current shock lies in his continued high energy levels compared to his younger years.
