Alice Diop presents Miu Miu exhibition in Paris

French filmmaker Alice Diop has launched her first multidisciplinary exhibition, ‘Geste de Consolation’, at the Palais d’Iéna in Paris. The project is part of a partnership between the fashion house Miu Miu and Art Basel Paris.

Conceived at the invitation of Miuccia Prada, the exhibition explores the historical and contemporary representation of Black women through various mediums, including cinema, photography, sculpture, poetry, dance, and music. The installation is designed as a cinematic montage across four interconnected spaces, featuring works such as photography by South African artist Zanele Muholi and video installations by Diop herself.

This collaboration follows a previous partnership between Diop and the brand, specifically her work on the ‘Miu Miu Women’s Tales’ series. The exhibition aims to foster a dialogue between fashion and culture while addressing themes of memory, transmission, and social repair.
