Alice Weidel defends traditional family values despite personal lifestyle
Alice Weidel, co-leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, has defended her support for the traditional family model despite her own personal life not adhering to that specific definition. In an interview with The Economist, Weidel addressed the perceived contradiction between the AfD's political platform—which promotes a nuclear family consisting of a father, mother, and children—and her own situation.
Weidel, who lives in Switzerland and is raising two children with her partner, stated that she is not obligated to follow the specific family model she supports politically. She argued that she can support the traditional family structure because it is the model in which 90% of children are raised, regardless of her personal circumstances.
