Alice Winocour's 'Couture' starring Angelina Jolie opens in France on Aug 26

French director Alice Winocour returns to feature filmmaking with "Couture," a drama set against the backdrop of Paris Fashion Week. The film stars Angelina Jolie as Maxine, an American filmmaker who discovers she has breast cancer and must confront her mortality while navigating the high‑pressure world of haute couture. Supporting roles include Sudanese model Ada (Anyier Anei) and French hairdresser Angèle (Ella Rumpf).

"Couture" explores fragility, resilience and female solidarity, using the fashion industry’s quest for perfection as a metaphor for personal reconstruction. The picture is scheduled for theatrical release in France on 26 August, with Plaion Pictures handling distribution. Jolie also serves as a producer, linking the story to her own public experience with preventive mastectomy.
