Alicia Giménez Bartlett releases 13th Petra Delicado novel

Spanish author Alicia Giménez Bartlett has released ‘Bajo el cielo infernal’, the 13th installment in her long-running crime series featuring Inspector Petra Delicado. The character, created 30 years ago, is recognized as the first female police inspector in European crime fiction.

In this new volume, Delicado is depicted as grieving and angry following the death of the man she loved. The author discussed the new plot and her character during an interview in Vinaroz, Castellón, where she resides. Giménez Bartlett described the work as being ‘full of rage and style’ and noted the importance of friendship and her lifelong connection to writing.
