Alicia Silverstone to reprise role in 'Clueless' sequel series
Alicia Silverstone is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a new six-episode 'Clueless' sequel series for Paramount+. The production, which takes place three decades after the original 1995 film, will follow Cher as a businesswoman and mother. Silverstone will also serve as an executive producer alongside director Amy Heckerling.
The series has been awarded a $16.3 million tax credit by the California Film Commission to film in Los Angeles. This is part of a larger state incentive program involving nine television productions. Other major recipients include an untitled Disney Entertainment Television series, which received $45.1 million, and Universal Television’s 'Newlyweds', which was awarded $5.8 million.
In total, the nine selected productions are expected to generate approximately $608 million in direct production spending within California, accounting for over 1,000 shoot days and creating jobs for thousands of cast, crew, and background actors.
