Alicja Klag rescues two men from drowning in Lake Como
Alicja Klag, a Polish swimming instructor, rescued two men from drowning in Lake Como near Abbadia Lariana on August 12, 2026. The incident occurred when a mattress carrying two men who were weak swimmers overturned.
While one man managed to reach shallow water on his own, the other, a 27-year-old, began to sink. Klag intervened immediately, helping to bring the men to shore before emergency services arrived. One of the rescued individuals was reportedly taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Following the rescue, the Mayor of Abbadia Lariana, Roberto Azzoni, officially recognized Klag at the town hall, presenting her with a diploma for her courage and quick reaction. Klag expressed modesty regarding her actions, noting that others also assisted and attributing the successful outcome to divine grace.
