Alicudi and Italian islands offer scenic trekking routes
Italy offers numerous opportunities for trekking across its minor islands, which feature diverse landscapes of rock, forest, and Mediterranean views. These locations often remain outside of mass tourism circuits, preserving their natural state.
A notable destination is Alicudi, the westernmost of the Aeolian Islands. Formerly known in ancient Greek as Ericussa, the island is characterized by steep terrain and is home to fewer than 100 residents. The landscape is dominated by the Filo dell’Arpa peak, which rises 675 meters above sea level. Hikers can traverse mule tracks and paths through prickly pear cacti and dry-stone walls to reach the summit, offering views across the entire Aeolian archipelago.
