Aliens: Fireteam Elite Switch version becomes unplayable after server shutdown
The Nintendo Switch version of Aliens: Fireteam Elite has become permanently unplayable following the shutdown of its servers by developer Cold Iron Studios.
Unlike other platforms, the Switch version was a cloud-based title that required a constant internet connection and stored no local data on the console. Because the game functioned as an interactive video stream rather than a physical or local digital installation, the closure of the servers has rendered the game inaccessible to all players, whether playing solo or in multiplayer mode.
The situation has raised renewed concerns regarding digital ownership and the limitations of cloud-only gaming models, as players lose access to titles once the service provider ceases support.
