Alija Izetbegović documentary premieres in Sarajevo

The documentary film ‘Alija – San o zemlji na razmeđu svjetova’ (Alija – Dream of a Land Between Worlds) premiered at the Sarajevo Memorial Center. The film marks the 23rd anniversary of the death of Alija Izetbegović, the first President of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Directed by Ahmed Imamović and authored by Nermin Hodžić, the production aims to go beyond a mere chronological account of the years 1990 to 1996. Instead, the film explores Izetbegović’s character, his political values, and his legacy as a thinker, statesman, and military leader. Hodžić stated that the goal was to understand the ideas and values he championed and the vision he held for Bosnia and Herzegovina, rather than just documenting historical events.

The film features contributions from various figures, including Major General Vahid Karavelić, commander of the First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who emphasized the importance of discussing Izetbegović’s role as a statesman.
