Aliko Dangote Foundation launches student share grant initiative
The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has launched the Student Share Grant Initiative to promote financial literacy and investment culture among young Nigerians. The program is designed to encourage youth participation in the nation's capital market by providing practical experience in the formal investment process.
Under the initiative, eligible students aged 18 and older enrolled in public or private tertiary institutions in Nigeria can participate in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE (DPRP). For every student who purchases a minimum of 10 shares through the foundation's dedicated platform, the ADF will fund an additional application for 10 DPRP shares at no extra cost to the student.
The Foundation noted that while it will fund the additional application, the allotment of these extra shares is not guaranteed and remains subject to the standard IPO terms and procedures. Foundation Chairman Aliko Dangote stated that the goal is to equip young people with the knowledge to understand economic value creation and the importance of long-term asset ownership.
