Aliko Dangote promotes three daughters to senior leadership roles
Aliko Dangote is transitioning his multibillion-dollar business empire by promoting his three daughters to senior leadership positions. While the move reduces his day-to-day involvement in various sectors, Dangote intends to retain control and focus on his oil refinery and fertilizer operations. He has no immediate plans to step down as group chief executive.
Mariya Dangote, the eldest, leads commercial strategy for the cement and food divisions and has joined the board of Dangote Cement Plc. Halima Dangote oversees the family office, which manages the family's wealth and is expected to increase its prominence starting in early 2027. Fatima Dangote, a lawyer by training, is responsible for corporate communications and supervises sales for the fertilizer and energy businesses.
Although the sisters have spent over a decade working within the group's cement, sugar, fertilizer, and energy businesses, none is currently being positioned to replace their father as the top executive. Dangote has previously indicated he is assessing his daughters and expects one to eventually take over the business.
