Aliko Dangote says he would rather go to prison than lose his phone
Aliko Dangote, the chairman of the Dangote Group, recently shared personal insights regarding his reliance on mobile technology during an event in Lagos, Nigeria. While unveiling his ‘Vision 2030’ plan for Africa’s industrial revolution, Dangote was presented with a hypothetical choice between spending one week without his mobile phone or losing access to his private jet.
Dangote responded that losing access to his phone would be more difficult, remarking, ‘I think it’s easier you put me in prison than to take my phone away.’ He noted that his device contains more than 13,000 contacts, a number he attributed to his habit of rarely blocking people. The remarks highlighted the central role of digital connectivity in managing his extensive professional and personal networks across his various industrial interests.
