Alimentación para el Bienestar reaches record maize procurement
Alimentación para el Bienestar has achieved its highest maize procurement in seven agricultural cycles during the Spring-Summer 2025 cycle. The institution acquired 752,282 tons of maize directly from small-scale producers.
This initiative involved a social investment of 5,418.8 million pesos, benefiting 39,483 small producers nationwide. The program established a purchase price of 7,000 pesos per ton, plus an additional 200 pesos for freight.
Chiapas was the leading state in procurement, accounting for 29.5% of the total volume with 221,979.4 tons. This supply supports the Tiendas Bienestar network across southeastern Mexico, including Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Tabasco, Oaxaca, Veracruz, and Chiapas.
