Alimentation Couche-Tard reports rising profits and pursues Zabka acquisition

Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. reported a first-quarter profit of US$828.5 million, an increase from US$782.5 million during the same period last year. The Laval, Quebec-based company also saw revenue rise to US$21.7 billion, up from US$17.3 billion in the previous year.

In addition to these financial results, the company is moving forward with an US$8.6-billion offer for a controlling stake in the Polish convenience store operator Zabka Group. CEO Alex Miller stated the acquisition is intended to expand the company's scale in central and eastern Europe while enhancing digital and food engagement capabilities.

Separately, Lululemon Athletica Inc. reported a decline in its second-quarter performance, with profits falling to US$329.2 million from US$370.9 million a year ago, leading to a reduction in its financial outlook.
