Alimentation Couche-Tard reports strong Q1 fiscal 2027 results

Alimentation Couche-Tard, the parent company of Circle K, reported strong financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2027. The company achieved its fifth consecutive quarter of positive same-store merchandise sales growth in the United States, with U.S. same-store merchandise revenue increasing by 1.7%. This growth was primarily driven by momentum in food, energy drinks, and nicotine products.

Overall revenue for the quarter rose by 25.1% to $21.7 billion, fueled by both organic growth and acquisitions. Adjusted EBITDA increased by 10.5%, and net earnings attributable to shareholders reached $828.5 million, up from $782.5 million in the same period last year. While U.S. merchandise growth was notable, the company also saw a 1.2% increase in same-store merchandise revenue across Europe and other regions, while Canadian sales remained relatively stable.

CEO Alex Miller noted that while elevated living costs and fuel prices impact discretionary spending, the company is successfully adapting to shifting consumer behaviors. Additionally, the company expects to receive regulatory approval for its acquisition of the Polish convenience store chain Żabka.
