Alinghi finishes seventh in America's Cup pre-regattas

The Swiss sailing team Alinghi expressed significant frustration following their seventh-place finish in the 2027 America's Cup pre-regattas in Naples. Despite being in third place prior to the final race, the crew, led by skipper Paul Goodison, suffered a setback during the last event.

Trimmer Nicolas Rolaz attributed the decline to a mistake during a maneuver, stating, “We missed our first gybe, which caused us to fall back in the pack.” He noted that the team likely confused speed with haste, forcing them into a defensive position rather than maintaining an offensive strategy. The team finished eighth in the final race, which prevented them from securing a fourth-place overall ranking.
