Alipay launches AI assistant “Abao” for HarmonyOS

Alipay has launched the beta testing phase for its AI assistant, “Abao,” on Huawei’s HarmonyOS. This expansion follows previous rollouts on iOS and Android, providing comprehensive coverage across the three major mobile operating systems.

Users can access the AI assistant by updating their Alipay app to version 12.12.16 or higher. The assistant utilizes natural language processing to simplify complex tasks, allowing users to execute services such as dining, travel planning, utility payments, and government service inquiries through simple voice or text commands. Instead of navigating multiple menus, users can use phrases like “help me find nearby coupons” or “check my social security records” to trigger relevant mini-programs.

To ensure security, Alipay stated that all transactions involving fund movements or payments require explicit user confirmation. Furthermore, Alipay indicated that future developments may include integration with Huawei’s “Xiaoyi” AI to enhance service capabilities within the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
