Alireza Beiranvand set to begin mandatory military service
Alireza Beiranvand, a prominent Iranian goalkeeper, is set to begin mandatory military service in October 2026, according to the Deputy of the Public Conscription Organization. This development poses a significant challenge for his club, Tractor SC, as the player will no longer be eligible to play for the team once his service begins.
Tractor SC CEO Hojjat Karimi has stated that the club is actively pursuing the matter. Karimi described Beiranvand as a ‘national asset’ due to his three World Cup appearances and emphasized the need for a review of current regulations. He noted that existing exemption laws for champions do not currently apply to football players in the same way they might for athletes in other disciplines, such as chess.
