Alireza Raeisi: Final phone call with father revealed before execution

An audio recording has surfaced capturing the final phone conversation between 21-year-old Alireza Raeisi and his father before his execution by hanging in Isfahan, Iran. Raeisi was convicted in connection with the deaths of Iranian security forces during anti-government protests.

In the emotional recording, Raeisi’s father is heard crying and repeatedly asking for forgiveness, stating, “Forgive me! I can’t do anything for you.” Raeisi attempted to comfort his father, telling him, “Dad, I am proud of you in every way. I have always been proud of you.”

Raeisi also mentioned his cousin, Ramin Raeisi, who was killed during protests in Isfahan on January 9, asking his father to pass on greetings to his uncle and reassure him that he was looking after Ramin. Raeisi was executed alongside 25-year-old Alireza Sepahi, who reportedly married via telephone just hours before his death.
