Alisa Oktyabreva switches tennis nationality to Czech Republic

Alisa Oktyabreva, the 17-year-old Roland Garros junior singles champion, has officially changed her sporting nationality to represent the Czech Republic after obtaining citizenship.

Born in Russia, Oktyabreva moved to the Czech Republic at age two and has trained at TK Sparta Praha since she was four. Her decision formalizes a long-standing connection to the Czech tennis development system. Following her recent junior Grand Slam victory in Paris, she is expected to represent the country in international competition.

Oktyabreva currently holds a WTA ranking of No. 411, with a career high of No. 280. Her transition reflects a broader trend of Russian-born tennis players representing other nations, such as Daria Kasatkina for Australia and Varvara Gracheva for France.
