Alison dos Santos sets world‑leading 400 m hurdles time and wins 400 m flat record at Troféu Brasil

Brazilian world champion Alison dos Santos dominated the Troféu Brasil in São Paulo. On 26 July he won the 400 m hurdles in 46.48 seconds, the best time worldwide for 2026, reclaiming the #1 ranking and overtaking Norway’s Karsten Warholm. The podium was completed by Matheus Lima (47.97 s) and Francisco Guilherme Vianna (49.38 s).

Two days earlier, on 24 July, Santos returned after a seven‑year absence to win the 400 m flat, clocking 44.60 seconds – a new competition record that broke his own semifinal mark of 44.76 seconds. Emerson Vieira do Nascimento earned silver (45.52 s) and Guilherme Orenhas bronze (45.56 s). Santos said it was his first race in front of his family and highlighted the significance of the victories for Brazilian athletics.
