Alistair Johnston sidelined until October with injury

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has confirmed that defender Alistair Johnston will be sidelined until at least October due to a hamstring injury. The Canadian international was substituted at halftime during a recent Scottish Premiership match against Kilmarnock as a precaution.

While initial reports suggested the substitution was merely precautionary, subsequent scans revealed a more significant issue. The injury is expected to rule Johnston out of upcoming international friendlies for Canada against Chile, Peru, and the United States.

This setback follows a period of heavy involvement for the 27-year-old, who played through the World Cup and pre-season without an extended break. The injury also impacts Johnston’s potential transfer prospects, specifically regarding reported interest from Everton.
