Alistair Johnston suffers injury setback during Celtic return
Celtic defender Alistair Johnston suffered a hamstring injury setback during his first competitive minutes in two and a half months. The Canadian international was introduced as a substitute in the 52nd minute of Celtic’s 2-1 victory over Hibernian at Easter Road.
Johnston was forced to leave the pitch in the 73rd minute, replaced by Cameron Carter-Vickers. Manager Martin O’Neill noted that the player felt discomfort at the top of his hamstring and stated the club would await scan results to assess the situation.
The injury comes after a difficult season for Johnston, who played only 742 minutes across 11 games due to previous hamstring issues. His unavailability poses concerns for Celtic’s upcoming title race against Rangers and Canada’s November Nations League quarterfinal.
