Alkmaar police seize weapons during fair security checks

Police in Alkmaar conducted preventive security checks at a local fair following intelligence regarding potential confrontations between rival drill rap groups. Due to reports of weapons being shared in chat groups, Mayor Anja Schouten designated parts of the city center as a temporary safety risk area.

During the operation, authorities searched seven youths, discovering two knives. One individual was arrested for possession of a firearm. While the suspects were not directly linked to the specific drill rap groups mentioned in the intelligence, the measures prevented the feared confrontation from occurring. The safety risk designation expired on Saturday morning.
