Alkmaar to receive 100 million euros for infrastructure and housing
The Dutch government intends to contribute 100 million euros to Alkmaar to support housing and accessibility plans. This funding follows a previous motion in the House of Representatives to prioritize municipalities like Alkmaar that were initially excluded from earlier funding rounds.
Of the total amount, approximately 82 million euros is designated for infrastructure projects. Key developments include the construction of a new Bestevaerbrug, the tunneling of the Helderseweg, and various traffic adjustments. These improvements are intended to facilitate the planned construction of thousands of homes along the Alkmaar Canal.
Local officials Marius Wiegman and Gijsbert van Iterson Scholten expressed optimism regarding the allocation, noting that while the plan requires formal approval from the House of Representatives, they expect it to proceed in accordance with previous parliamentary motions.
