Alko expands Sunday and holiday opening hours

Alko is expanding its Sunday and holiday opening hours following changes to alcohol legislation. During the autumn, 20 additional stores will begin operating on Sundays from 12:00 to 18:00, bringing the total number of Sunday-operating locations to 55.

The new law also permits Alko to open on various public holidays. All Alko stores will be open on All Saints' Day, October 31. Additionally, Sunday-operating stores will serve customers on Independence Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, and Easter Monday. During Christmas Eve, all stores will be open until 13:00, and on New Year's Eve, they will remain open until at least 18:00.

Business Director Kari Pennanen stated that the company has been satisfied with previous expansions in Saturday and Sunday hours based on customer feedback, foot traffic, and sales. He noted that the changes aim to better serve customers whose daily routines and expectations for service availability have evolved.
