Alkoven: Woman seriously injured in catering flash fire

A 24-year-old woman was seriously injured during catering work in Alkoven, Austria, on the afternoon of August 15, 2026. The victim, a Croatian citizen residing in Linz, was attempting to refill burners in warming containers with fuel paste.

Due to intense sunlight, the worker reportedly failed to notice that one of the burners was still active. This resulted in a sudden flash fire that immediately engulfed her. Witnesses at the scene were able to extinguish the flames and promptly initiated emergency procedures.

Following initial medical treatment, the woman was transported via emergency helicopter to the Center for Severe Burn Victims at the Medical University of Vienna (AKH Wien).
