All Blacks announce 44-player squad for 2026 South Africa tour

Notable returns to the squad include Rieko Ioane, alongside Timoci Tavatavanawai, Emoni Narawa, Ethan Blackadder, George Bell, and Ollie Norris. The depth in the midfield, with players like Billy Proctor and Quinn Tupaea competing for starting roles, suggests a tactical approach focused on squad rotation.

Ahead of a midweek clash against the Sharks, Rennie noted that the Springboks' tactical approach was recently challenged by Argentina's Los Pumas, who disrupted South Africa's kicking game. Rennie also commented on the upcoming match against the Sharks, which will feature 44-year-old Ma’a Nonu making his debut for the Durban-based side.
