All Blacks forward Anton Segner ruled out of tour due to injury

All Blacks coach Dave Rennie has confirmed that loose forward Anton Segner will not participate in the remainder of the tour following surgery on his ankle. Segner underwent keyhole surgery to address an infection, and while he will travel with the squad to Cape Town, he is ruled out of the remaining three tests.

Segner becomes the fifth All Black to miss the tour, joining Ollie Norris, George Bell, Billy Proctor, and Caleb Clarke. Rennie stated that the team will not call up a replacement, noting that the squad has sufficient depth in the loose forward position following the conclusion of midweek matches.

Additionally, prop Ofa Tu’ungafasi was sidelined for the recent 41-35 victory over the Lions due to a fever. Despite these setbacks, Rennie expressed confidence in the squad's availability for the upcoming matches in the series.
