All Blacks legends criticize Dave Rennie's selection choices
Former All Blacks players Kieran Read and Justin Marshall have criticized head coach Dave Rennie’s recent selection decisions following New Zealand’s 50-19 victory over Australia at Eden Park. The win allowed the All Blacks to retain the Bledisloe Cup for the 24th consecutive year.
Kieran Read specifically questioned the omission of lock Fabian Holland, describing the 23-year-old as a ‘world-class player’ and the team’s best current option in that position. Read suggested that Holland should be partnering Scott Barrett in the second row.
Justin Marshall also expressed confusion regarding the matchday squad composition, specifically questioning the decision to include both Josh Moorby and Rieko Ioane as replacements. Both former players advocated for greater consistency in the starting lineup and expressed concerns regarding experimental changes ahead of upcoming Nations Championship Tests against Scotland, Wales, and England.
