South Africa Springboks name 26-man squad for Argentina test on Aug 8

South African coach Rassie Erasmus announced a 26‑man Springboks squad for the one‑off test against Argentina’s Los Pumas in Buenos Buenos Aires on Saturday, 8 August. The selection balances giving game time to players returning from injury – captain Siya Kolisi, fly‑half Sacha Feinberg‑Mngomezulu, lock Lood de Jager, lock Eben Etzebeth and scrum‑half Morne van den Berg – with managing the workload of those who have played heavily this season.

The squad will travel to South America in two groups on Saturday. The match kicks off at 21:00 UK time and will be broadcast live on SuperSport. Erasmus said the fixture is a key preparation ahead of the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry (RGR) tour against New Zealand, and stressed the physical and gruelling challenge Argentina will pose.

Players not travelling – including Cheslin Kolbe, Damian Willemse, Jesse Kriel and Ruan Nortje – will remain at the Johannesburg training base to prepare for the upcoming New Zealand series.
