All Blacks stars Beauden and Scott Barrett targeted by English clubs
All Blacks stars Beauden and Scott Barrett are reportedly targets for English rugby clubs following the 2027 World Cup. Bristol and Newcastle are competing for the brothers, with Bristol reportedly in advanced negotiations to secure both players. Newcastle, bolstered by recent investment from Red Bull, remains a significant contender in the pursuit.
Both brothers are currently under contract in New Zealand through the end of 2027, with their immediate focus remaining on the upcoming World Cup. Beauden Barrett, 35, has previously played in Japan and holds 145 Test caps, while 32-year-old Scott Barrett has 89 caps.
Separately, Beauden Barrett has discussed the mental difficulties of being excluded from the All Blacks' starting lineup during parts of the 2026 season. After a period of limited appearances, he recently returned to the starting full-back role during a 50-19 Bledisloe Cup victory over the Wallabies at Eden Park.
