AIFF to hold general elections on December 20, 2026
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has scheduled its general elections for December 20, 2026. The decision was reached during a Special General Body Meeting (SGBM) held in Kolkata on October 4, which included representatives from member associations as well as officials from FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Rajeev Sharma, the former State Election Commissioner of Haryana, has been appointed as the Electoral Officer to oversee the process. To ensure a smooth transition, the General Body resolved to extend the tenure of the current AIFF Executive Committee until December 30, 2026, or until the newly elected committee assumes office, whichever occurs first.
This upcoming election will be the first for the federation since September 2022, when Kalyan Chaubey was elected president. The leadership change comes as the Indian national team engages in high-profile international matches against opponents such as Brazil and Uruguay.
