All India Muslim Personal Law Board announces nationwide movement

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced a nationwide movement titled ‘Movement for the Protection of the Constitution and Shariat’. The board aims to involve religious and social organizations, intellectuals, lawyers, and human rights activists to defend constitutional supremacy, religious freedom, and social harmony.

The board expressed concerns regarding increased pressure and insecurity faced by marginalized sections, particularly Muslims, in religious, social, political, and economic spheres. Specific issues raised include mob lynching, ‘illegal’ bulldozer actions, disputes involving mosques, madrasas, and dargahs, alleged illegal occupations of Waqf properties and graveyards, and the arbitrary arrest of Muslim youth.

Additionally, the AIMPLB opposed perceived attempts to weaken Muslim Personal Law through the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and criticized interference in the education system. The movement plans to include public meetings, peaceful protests, the release of white papers on rights violations, and a large national conference in New Delhi.
