All Japan Trucking Association promotes safety via AI technology and subsidies
The All Japan Trucking Association is advancing its ‘Comprehensive Safety Plan 2030’ to reduce traffic accidents involving commercial trucks. As part of this initiative, the association has certified the C46 AI side collision warning system, provided by Japan 21, as an eligible device for safety equipment subsidies.
The C46 system uses AI cameras to detect pedestrians and cyclists in a vehicle's left-side blind spot, distinguishing them from stationary objects to minimize false alarms. Under the subsidy program, transport operators can receive up to 100,000 yen (half of the purchase price) per vehicle for commercial trucks with a gross weight of 7.5 tons or more.
Additionally, the Hokkaido Trucking Association will host a seminar on November 30, 2026, in Sapporo. The session will focus on accident trends and prevention measures for commercial trucks, featuring instructors from SOMPO Risk Management and the Hokkaido Transport Bureau.
