All Japan University Soccer Selection Names 23-Man Squad for Italy Tour

The All Japan University Soccer Federation announced a 23‑player squad for its upcoming Italy tour on 3 August. The roster is composed of 20 fourth‑year students and three third‑year students, with 14 members already secured by J‑League clubs, including Kashiwa Reysol midfielder Shusuke Furutani. Goalkeeper Keitaro Umemoto, a 190‑cm tall son of a former J‑League player, is also selected. Kokushikan University contributed the most players, four in total, while Waseda, Tsukuba, Ryutsu Keizai and Kyoto Sangyo each supplied two.

Kansai University midfielder Renji Sanada, who has a pending J2 contract with Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, will join the squad for the two‑week Italian trip. He said he will focus on his professional debut in Sapporo after the tour, acknowledging that the trip will cause him to miss the J2 opening match. The Consadole Sapporo side is also conducting a fundraiser for victims of the recent Kumamoto earthquake during the same period.
