All Nippon Airways to receive first Boeing 737 MAX in December
All Nippon Airways (ANA) is scheduled to receive its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 in December, marking the start of deliveries after several years of delays. The airline originally selected the aircraft in January 2019, but the rollout was interrupted by the global grounding of the MAX fleet following two fatal crashes. ANA has since formalized orders for 20 aircraft and holds options for four more.
To ensure quality, ANA personnel are conducting on-site inspections at Boeing’s Renton plant in Washington to monitor assembly stages and verify compliance with contractual requirements. The first aircraft, intended to carry the Japanese registration JA030A, completed its maiden flight on August 29.
Separately, ANA has announced a mileage discount promotion for its ANA Mileage Club members. The Tokutabi Miles campaign, opening for bookings on October 14, allows members to redeem one-way domestic award tickets for as little as 3,500 miles. The promotion covers travel through late November 2026 on selected routes, including Tokyo to Fukuoka and Tokyo to Okinawa.
