All-solid-state battery industry enters engineering verification phase
The all-solid-state battery (ASSB) industry is entering a critical phase of engineering verification. According to TrendForce, 2026 will be a pivotal year as manufacturers transition from laboratory material breakthroughs to engineering manufacturing, product consistency, and automotive-grade verification.
Major players including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Samsung SDI are leading small-scale pilot production. Japanese manufacturers have already verified certain performance indicators for automotive-grade products and are accelerating performance evaluations for ASSB modules. For instance, Nissan has completed charge-discharge testing on a thick 23-layer stacked structure cell, demonstrating capacity retention superior to traditional liquid lithium-ion batteries.
In China, leading firms such as CATL, BYD, and FAW are advancing small-scale pilot production lines. Meanwhile, the application of solid-state technology is expanding beyond electric vehicles into high-value sectors including drones, eVTOL, micro-electronics, construction machinery, and embodied robotics, with companies like Samsung SDI, Maxell, and ProLogium targeting these markets.
