Allan Richards, former chief administrator of Tobago House of Assembly, passes away

Allan Richards, the first chief administrator of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), has died at Roxborough Hospital after suffering a stroke. He served the THA from 1983, establishing its Planning Department, becoming clerk in 1988 and leading as chief administrator from 1996 to 2008.

Beyond public service, Richards chaired Towers Hospitality Group and helped launch the Comfort Inn and Suites in Scarborough, contributing to Tobago’s tourism growth. He received the Tobago Medal of Honour (Gold) for Public Service and Entrepreneurship in 2023 and the Legacy of Leadership Award in 2025. The Office of the Chief Secretary issued condolences, praising his "visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to nation‑building".
