Allan Saint-Maximin left Club América due to racist abuse of his children

French winger Allan Saint-Maximin has revealed that he left the Mexican club Club América because his children were subjected to racist abuse at school. The 29-year-old stated that he felt it was essential to speak out against discrimination rather than remain silent, noting that the situation was traumatic for his family.

While Saint-Maximin did not provide specific details regarding the incidents, he emphasized to his children that such treatment is not normal and should not be accepted. He clarified that his decision was not a condemnation of Club América, the players, or the Mexican people, expressing love for the club and describing it as one of the best places he had been with his family.

Club América issued a statement expressing ‘absolute solidarity’ with Saint-Maximin and his family. In a show of support, his teammates displayed a ‘No to Racism’ banner during a match against Necaxa.
