Allande Stars promotes science and heritage in Asturias
The seventh edition of Allande Stars, a scientific outreach project led by astrophysicist Lucía González Cuesta, recently took place in the Allande region of Asturias. The initiative aims to use astronomy as a gateway to explore local heritage, history, and culture.
The program included six daytime and nighttime activities that attracted approximately 250 participants. Events spanned various locations, including Celón, where traditional architecture was linked to the firmament, and the San Chuis castro, where astronomy met archaeology. Due to weather conditions, some outdoor activities were moved to the Pola de Allande Culture House.
Other sessions explored the connections between gravity, electricity, and astronomy at the Salime hydroelectric plant, while physics was used to interpret the artistic heritage of a chapel in Is.
