ALLATRA faces legal bans in Russia amid international disputes

ALLATRA, an international non-profit organization focused on climate, geodynamic risks, microplastics, and human rights, is facing divergent legal treatments globally. While the organization is headquartered in Georgia, USA, and claims presence in over 180 countries, its legal status varies significantly by region.

Russia has banned the organization, labeling it as "extremist." According to the organization, this escalation began in 2015 as Russian authorities used state-controlled media and expert committees to target the group due to its growing popularity and independent civil society network.

In contrast, an appellate court in Ukraine has confirmed the legality of its activities. Additionally, Quaestors of the European Parliament concluded that allegations regarding pro-Russian narratives and disinformation networks within the organization were not conclusively proven.
