Allegations of conspiracy in BNP leader Jahangir murder in Kishoreganj
Taslima Akter, the widow of Jahidul Alam Jahangir, the BNP president of Mithamoin Upazila, has accused his younger brother, Alamgir Shikdar, of planning and financing the murder. During a press conference in the Beribandh area of Mithamoin, Akter claimed that one of the suspects, Helal, provided this information via telephone from prison.
Akter further alleged police misconduct, claiming that Mithamoin Police Station Officer Monwar assaulted her and used injections to coerce her into not naming Alamgir in her statement. She has called for a judicial inquiry into the officer's actions. Additionally, she questioned why Alamgir's passport was not effectively seized to prevent him from fleeing the country and why the investigating officer, SI Sabbir, was transferred shortly after the murder.
Akter has requested that the investigation be transferred to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to ensure transparency. She also identified an individual named Bachchu as a primary suspect involved in hiring and housing the killers, noting that he has yet to be arrested.
